What should I expect from my first session?

During your first appointment, we will discuss what your main treatment goals are and your presenting chief complaint. This can include but not limited to: pain relief, relaxation, gaining mental clarity, promoting sleep, etc. We will discuss a thorough intake to gather information on your chief complaint and go over any possible contraindications for treatment. Massage can vary from light to medium pressure or medium to deep. Cupping and Gua Sha can be additions to any massage treatment, acupuncture treatment  or can be stand alone as well. Acupuncture needles are sterile, thin needles that will be placed among various areas of the body to help promote homeostasis and bring you to your calmest version, while working toward minimizing your chief complaint. Acupuncture assists in the release of neurotransmitters and endorphins so ease pain, promote digestion and improve immunity among many other benefits.

How should I prepare for my first treatment?

When coming to your appointments, be sure to have had some food prior, stay hydrated and wear loose fitting clothing. Try and avoid having caffeine. After your treatment, take time to relax and rest, drink plenty of water and eat a well balanced meal.

What should I expect from my first session?

You should expect to feel calm. some may feel a slight sensation from the needles that can include heaviness, dullness, or an aching sensation and sometimes patients report that they don't feel anything at all! You may feel energized upon leaving or you can also feel very calm and restful.
