About Me
My Story
Hello! I am Dr. Samantha Purviance, a Doctor of Acupuncture and California Board Licensed Acupuncturist. My degrees include a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and a Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine, Certified Massage Therapist, 200 hour Yoga Teacher, and Reiki Master of the Usui Lineage. Acupuncture and holistic health have not only been a huge part of my personal life in treating multiple members of my family and myself, but it is also my passion and purpose!
The approach used at SP Acu and Wellness to helping clients is a combination of both eastern and western methods. I love to incorporate methods that have been around for thousands of years and I have extensive training in both Chinese and Japanese acupuncture modalities that each aid in different ways of healing. I also heavily believe in the most important aspect of patient care to be meeting the client where they are in their journey to feeling their best.
Alternative forms of medicine have always been so intriguing and the strong desire to help others really came into play in my early 20's. My education began in 2012 at the Pacific College of Health and Science (Formerly Pacific College of Oriental Medicine). I completed the Associates of Applied Science degree, received my 500 hour massage certification and have been doing massage since 2014, specializing in circulatory and relaxation massage, deep tissue and prenatal massage as well. As of August 2021, I graduated form the MSTOM program, became a Licensed Acupuncturist and went on to complete the Doctorate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine degree in August 2022.
There were many great opportunities in my clinical experience that includes but is not limited to the treatment of mental and emotional health, pain relief, digestive disorders, women health including fertility support, labor prep and post party care, and I also completed a facial rejuvenation certification. Services during treatment can include acupuncture, massage, electrical stimulation, moxibustion, fire cupping, gua sha, nutritional advice, cosmetic acupuncture and lifestyle recommendations.
